The manual takes you step by step
from the taking of measurements to drafting the blocks for the lower torso region of the body, the legs and the feet
from altering the designs for the kind of garment we want to style to converting them into a pattern
and how we might construct our garment.
Feet can be one of the more complicated regions of the body and so one of the more involved regions to draft patterns for. The manual offers a number of different designs to cater for both beginners and those looking for a challenge. Some foot designs require only 2 measurements and so are relatively simple, some require 17 and so are a bit more involved.
The foot region can also be one of the more difficult regions to construct.
I demonstrate how we can alter our patterns to make life a little easier.
While the manual began life as just a booklet about how to draft socks and stockings it grew to include suspenders which then lead on to harness systems. Then it moved on to also include tights (pantyhose) and Long Johns. So the manual may also be used to produce leggings.
I go through my own project in the manual from its idea to its drafting and construction and finally its wearing to demonstrate the logical progression of everything.
The manual includes a block of the simpler design for the foot region based upon 15 different shoe sizes.
